Grass fed belted galloway

What's the big deal with Beltie beef?

So, Belted Galloways are a heritage breed of cattle that originated in Scotland. They're known for their distinctive appearance - they're mostly black with a wide white belt around their middle, hence the name "Belted" Galloway. It’s easy to see why they’re called “oreos” in the US. But what really sets them apart is the quality of their meat.

Belted Galloway beef is often described as being exceptionally tender, juicy, and flavorful. Belties have a thick double coat to protect them from harsh Scottish winters. The results in meat which is well-marbled, which means it has a good distribution of fat throughout the muscle, and that translates to a really rich, beefy taste. There’s a reason that Rules (https://rules.co.uk), London’s longest running restaurant at 350 years, only serves beltie beef!

One of the reasons the meat is so good is that Nannas Farm Belted Galloways are only raised on pasture, where they can graze on grass and other forage. This natural diet, combined with the breed's genetics, results in beef that's not only delicious but also nutritious. Grass-fed beef like this is higher in beneficial omega-3 fatty acids and other good stuff compared to grain-fed beef.

Another cool thing about Belted Galloways is that they're a hardy, adaptable breed. They can thrive in all sorts of environments, which Nannas Farm location in Southern Highlands certainly gives them - four seasons in a day. This makes them perfect to raise in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly way.

So, if you’ve never tried Belted Galloway beef, I highly recommend it! It's delicious, and it's cool to support a unique heritage breed like this.
