Why does our beef cost more than those, ahem, ethical supermarkets? Because we're doing something that actually matters — and we refuse to rush it.
Our cattle are Belted Galloways — "Belties" — one of the oldest and most naturally suited breeds for regenerative grazing. Hardy, gentle, and slow to mature, they're not built for the fast turnaround of conventional production. They take their time, and that's exactly the point. That extra time spent roaming open pastures, grazing on diverse forage, and living as cattle genuinely should is what develops the rich marbling, deep flavour, and exceptional nutritional profile that sets this beef apart from anything you'll find in a supermarket.
Belties are also uniquely suited to regenerative land management. Their grazing patterns and hard hooves help restore pasture, rebuild soil structure, and support the broader ecosystem. Every animal plays an active role in returning health to the land it lives on, and we’rededicated to getting this right — not just for the cattle, but for the country beneath their hooves.
This is the opposite of conventional beef production. No feedlots, no synthetic inputs, no animals pushed to grow faster than nature intended. Just slow, honest farming the way it used to be done.
It's also worth asking: when a seller claims to be "farm direct" and your order arrives within days, where was that animal when you placed your order? Certainly not out on a paddock. We raise most of our cattle to order. They graze freely, mature naturally, and are selected with care when the time is right — not when a production schedule demands it.
Slow-maturing beef raised regeneratively costs more to produce. That's simply the truth. But what you get in return is extraordinary — beef with genuine depth of flavour, more nutritious, raised on land that's being actively restored, from a farming model that's worth protecting.
When you buy from us, you're investing in real food, real farming, and a future where doing things the right way is still possible. That's worth every cent.
